● About

Our Why

Big Psych is a community-rooted education and connection hub that supports cultivating a direct and respectful relationship with the natural world. Through hands-on learning, thoughtful discussion, and creative exchange, we explore the many ways of knowing from herbalism, mushroom cultivation, and urban gardening to art, altered states of consciousness, and exploring the environment around us.

We prioritize accessibility, representation, and diversity of thought, creating spaces where respectful conversation and skill sharing can thrive. Our work is grounded in ecological stewardship and the belief that community resilience grows from shared knowledge, mutual care, and creative collaboration.

We are living through transformative times, and Big Psych is our contribution to the movement for a more connected, sustainable, and inspired future.

● Our Mission & Philosophy

Our Intentions

Symbiosis with Nature

We honor the living world as teacher, mirror, and collaborator. Our work grows from the understanding that human well-being and planetary health are intertwined. When we care for the Earth, we care for ourselves. Building a direct relationship with nature.

Access & Representation

We believe wisdom belongs to everyone. By removing barriers and uplifting underrepresented community voices, we create spaces where all people can participate, contribute, and see themselves reflected in the movement.

Diversity of Thought

Curiosity thrives in contrast. We welcome many ways of knowing, recognizing that growth comes from dialogue between different perspectives. Bursting thought bubbles in an effort to learn, share knowledge, and grow from conflict.

Respectful Conversation

We practice respectful discourse as a form of communal care. Through honest and open dialogue, we build trust, hold difference with integrity, and nurture the kind of community where growth and understanding can take root. Honoring the ebb and flow of relationships and community dynamics.

● Our Story

The Mycelia’s

Jade and Stig met during their senior year of high school. Their immediate bond was woven into their love for psychedelic exploration. The sharp contrast of lived experiences illuminated their quest for understanding one another. Since 2014, they have been nurturing Big Psych as a concept of change in the Minneapolis community.

Sparked by their passion for psychological expansion and sustainable living, Big Psych has become a grassroots movement for exploring the intersections of mental health, social justice, and sustainability in the plant medicine community. In search of a community with these values in mind, they launched Big Psych during the 2020 Pandemic and have been building ever since. They use psychedelic exploration as a method for learning. Their philosophy is education through transparent example as they cultivate space, activate conversations, and pursue plant medicine liberation.
